We went to a Halloween Carnival last night.

There were carnival games for the kids and 

a "Trunk-or-Treat" afterwards.


While I was taking the kids around, my husband was manning our trunk for Trick-or-Treaters.  When it was over, he handed me a nearly empty bag of candy.

"What happened to all the candy?" I asked.  "I bought a ton."

I have such fond memories of Halloween as a child.  And a big part of that excitement was planning the costumes. 


My mom could sew, but it was my dad who always made our costumes.  He could make anything we dreamed up, from a perfect replica of the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid, to Wonder Woman's American flag costume including a gold boomerang headband and bullet-deflecting wrist

So every year around this time, my mom takes us window shopping to a few different stores.  We can't ever

buy anything.  It's just so she can see our eyes light up, and our ooh's and aah's over certain toys we see.  Then she keeps the ideas in mind when she's shopping online.

That's how I feel when I wear this Flower Bun, like I've got one of nature's perfect creations blossoming from my head. 

It's so simple, but comes out looking as unique as a rare flower.

If this braid were not already referred to as a "Lace Braid", 

I'd call it the "Friendship braid".


Because it's the do I'm always styling on them. 



My friends, my cousins, even my aunts ask me to play with their hair and show them new styles to try. 

And I often go for this one.

It's simple, but looks really cool. So I always pull it out for the new look to show them and it's a hit

It's basically just two french braids, but with the elastics in the middle, it looks like the silky strands of a spider's web.



You can dress it up with a few plastic spiders for even more fun 

or just wear it with a bow.
